Five things to ponder…
1. It was never discussed in length, but I think we both agree that RW DC out performed expectations and equally so RW Cancun was a letdown. I originally was planning on typing up a whole rant about how DC was actually superior to Cancun. But then the more I let it sit, the more I realized that my initial reaction was based more on performance compared to expectation as opposed to a fair comparison. RW Cancun had better looking girls, more crazy story lines, and Bronne. Yes it never lived up to what it could have been but, I still think it was better than RW DC.
2. If you were 21 and still in college, how much would you pay for a shot on the Real World Road Rules Fresh Meat Challenge? I honestly think they should hold televised try-outs. I would watch.
3. Why did they have to move the NFL draft to a Thursday night? (Look I get that the answer is ad revenue… but let me moan) I recognize that watching the draft is incredibly sad to non-sports people. It’s weird and obsessive. When it was held on a Saturday afternoon, I could sit by myself drink some beers and text with my other sport-obsessed friends/family members. But now that it is prime time, us geeky draft watchers are forced to “out” ourselves, and explained to non-sport friends, family, and loved-ones just how far down the rabbit hole we have gone.
4. Since my last post I have flown more than I wanted to. The combo of travel, time zones, airplane germs, lack of sleep, and alcohol naturally lead me to get sick. On one of the flights, I was obviously the “sick guy.” So much so that my coughing and general appearance drove the person across the row from me to pull his shirt up to cover his nose and mouth so as to avoid my germs. At first, I felt guilty as though I was infecting everyone. I tried to stifle my cough and appear healthier. Then I realized that if I looked healthy, people might think this guy the only was covering his mouth and nose because I had a farting problem. Is it better to be infectious or gassy?
5. My son-to-be is registered for nine different seating options. This seems like too much? I just did a quick count and Lisa and I only have seven different seating options.

Cool I like breaking down several different topics at once.
ReplyDelete1. The difference in the feelings afterwards is the result of 1 thing...Expectations. Oue expectations for RW Cancun were so high it was ridiculous. And obviously there was only one way they could go and that was down. I had absolutely no expectations for RWDC and was pleasantly surprised. Lesson: set low expectations and you will be happily surprised instead of disappointed.
Such as, I have very low expectations for Jersey Shore 2. I think it will be bad b/c people are gonna know who they are when they are out. So if it is even decent at best I win.
2. CJ from RW Cancun is on the new Fresh Meat Challenge. Apparently it already started and I need to go to mtv.com or something and watch it. I bet Piglet gets rocked. I am disappointed that if you knew about this new challenge, where was an quick email or Facebook post about it. I hate missing tv stuff.
3. NFL draft can be summed up in 1 word for me- "bor-a-fill" (to quote Adam Sandler" The only time I remember watching the draft and being entertained was when Brady Quinn got drafted like 20th when he thought he was going top 5. I think he was the only one left in the room. Great comedy. You know he wanted to start smashing stuff each time he was not drafted. Other than that it takes too long and will never be watched by me during a regular TV week.
4. You should have started mumbling things like "god i hope I didnt get swine flu from _____" I think its more embarrassing to be the farting guy, but is aslo funnier. Like that night last November in Peculiar Pub.....that;s all i'm gonna say. or you could be the puker....wait you've already been that guy on the plane. I once was the guy watching a American Psycho on my laptop while a man next to me was reading religious items. I dont know what was funnier the sex scenes or the killing scenes. Man I wish I could have seen his face during those scenes.
5. Does stroller count as a seating option? and I assume car seat does not either. if thats the case then the good news is in a year you can be down to 1 inside the house. Wait Jackson has his own little chair in the living room and an outdoor type chair. But all the other seating contraptions will be gone. I take it you will be renting a storage unit for all the baby crap when you are done with it, because it piles up fast, trust me.
1. 100% agree it is all about expectations. I thought RWDC was gonna be horrible, especially as it followed up the first season of Jersey Shore.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree the Jersey Shore season 2 has serious flop potential. On a side note, I am worried about the second season of Glee. I have such concerns that they will screw it up.
2. I can't believe you need me to keep you up to speed on RW challenges. Did you need me to also tell you it was baseball season?
Get yourself caught up as I think we will have 1 or 2 blog conversations about fresh meat 2.
3. Hmm. I wasn't sure if you were pro or con draft. The Brady Quinn green room drama was awesome. I love all things draft, but I am nowhere near as obsessed as my college roommate. He has betting pools set up around the draft.
4. My laundry list of airport hijinks deserves its own post.
5. Yes. I counted stroller and car seats. My storage unit is located in my in-laws basement.
1. I have a feeling Glee will have issues. 1st off, all high school shows face the same dilema- the kids need to graduate, which means either they hang around after high school or bring new talent in. I think the second choice is the better option. Maybe 2-3 kids each season. Also, Glee has become wildly popular so the writers/network will try to be extra cool and come up with new ideas for the show instead of sticking with what has worked to get them to this point.
ReplyDelete2. there will be a fresh meat blog posted by me, either tomorrow or for Monday morning. Watched the 1st episode on MTV.com last night and DVR'd the other one. sooo excited on so many levels for so many reasons. Simmons had Jacoby on a podcast last week the day before the 1st episode and they were breaking down the alumni. good stuff as usual. Jacoby needs his own podcast.
4. You have traveled so much, i think you could write a decent boo about your airport experiences. Start that project Next week and send me exerpts.
5. Think i could store some stuff there? i will put it in big bins and label it "Cole"
